Why You Should Be a Writer: Ally Mac's Writing Journey
The Three Main Types of Writers and Their Pros and Cons

Meet Writing Prompt Wednesdays!

Updated: Jun 26, 2023

To get the creative juices flowing again, my friends and I enjoy finding a writing prompt or starting sentence for a piece and writing a quick short story based on that idea. In fact, we would often do this as a challenge at our writing retreats. I had the idea to incorporate this on my blog to possibly help you if you are in a writing slump or if you need to be consistently creative.

Every Wednesday, I will post a writing prompt on my blog and you can write your own response to it. If I get enough traction or if people want somewhere to share their stories, I may even start a subreddit to give you a place to publish your writing for others to see.

As for me, I will be writing a short story to go with the prompt and share it every week with the new prompt. It will look something like this:

New Prompt: [Prompt to fill this space]

Old Prompt: [Prompt to fill this space]

[My story to go here]

So whether you want to participate in this fun challenge or just want to come back every week to read what I have come up with, I hope you decide to tag along for the ride. I would challenge you to try if you have an idea for something because you never know if you could become the next best-selling author! (And don't worry about skill level. Someone has to keep the editors in business.)

The prompt to be written for Wednesday, August 3rd is:

"You're vacationing in a city you've never been in before when you suddenly find yourself in a place you've seen hundreds of times in your dreams. The person you always see in those dreams is there, too, and they slowly turn and ask, 'Is it really you?' " {credit to @writing.prompt.s on Instagram}

Good luck and happy writing! See you next Wednesday.
